Andrews has created a haunting atmosphere that will provide the perfect escape for readers who enjoy the works of authors like Shirley Jackson and Joe Hill. I found myself engulfed in this book and at under three-hundred pages, it wasn't that hard to do! 

In a scenario similar to Harry Potter receiving his Hogwarts letter, the main character Autumn receives an acceptance letter to the Windhaven Academy despite not having applied. Although this news excites her, she is reluctant to confirm her enrollment. However, she takes the leap of faith and begins her journey into discovering her magical talents.

Autumn quickly befriends several fellow students that end up playing a more vital role in her life than she could have imagined at the start of the school year as they help her uncover dark family secrets from her childhood. It isn't long until she finds herself confronting her parents for answers and not a moment too soon as the past becomes the present.

Does Autumn already know what her powers are? Is there truth to the stories her friends are telling her and helping her to discover? Will she have what it takes to save the day? You'll have to read this one to find out!
