Special Guest Saturday: Meet Jill!

View my Bookstagram!

I’m originally from Michigan but I moved to northern Minnesota with my husband 6 years ago. I work as a private lands biologist, helping landowners enroll their land into different programs. I graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife and nature and working with the environment is my main interest. I love animals. I also have a degree in Psychology and Sociology and spent 6 years working in social work before deciding it was not the field for me. Since I moved to such a rural area my reading interest has become my main hobby, especially in the brutally cold winters!

Q: How did you come up with your IG handle?

A: The name is based on my living in the northern plains.

Q: How long have you had your account?

A: A little over a year; it was started in July 2019!

Q: How long did it take you before you started receiving physical ARCs?

A: As far as getting physical arcs, I still don’t get them unsolicited but I’ve found a lot of ways to get them. I have won them on goodreads, I do bookishfirst, I subscribe to a lot of different emails and I’ve recently started putting myself on publisher lists (so far not much). I’ve emailed to request arcs and often end up with a digital one.

Q: What was your most exciting bookmail?

A: Last December when I emailed to ask for The Dilemma and You Are Not Alone I was so excited to get physical copies of those.

Q: Which book format do you prefer?

A: I enjoy having a print copy but then end up doing audio or ebook a lot of the time. Ebooks are easy and always with me if on my kindle.

  1. I agree with Jill about e-books being easy. I still love physical books but reading on a Kindle is fun too.

  2. I'm all about physical books. But audiobooks have helped a lot this year.
